- Remove disability as a hindrance, to living a full and dynamic life, for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Remove the greatest fear for parents with adult children who are intellectually & developmentally disabled, which is “what will happen to my child when I’m no longer around to look after them?”.
It takes a certain type of staff person to remove disability as a hinderance to living a full and dynamic life, for adults with intellectual disabilities. To make this goal possible we’ve come to realize through our experience that we need to work with people who are self-motivated, high energy, and enthusiastic about the work they do.

Here at Global Health Services, we have two goals:
Naturally, it helps if that person is someone who feels they were called to serve people with special needs. While this hasn’t been our experience as a company, we’ve heard that often people with a relative with a special need often makes for the type of employee who can have a huge impact and help us achieve our goals for the individual and their parents.
Due to their life experiences, they often have a natural instinct when it comes to knowing what it takes to help individuals with disabilities, move beyond their limitations.
As we work very closely with individuals who are vulnerable, we also realize it’s not ideal to just hire anyone off the street to come in and sit on the couch and be on their phone. Nor is it ideal to hire people who are easily frustrated or moved to anger by the limitations of other.
Now we haven’t had the pleasure of working with a staff member who has a relative with special needs, but we have had the pleasure of working with several types of employees in our five years in business. Some of those experiences have been great, some mediocre and some less than favorable.
